Bennington Nissan’s Guide To Storing Your Summer Tires:

Keep Them Clean:

  • The golden rule of tire storage is cleanliness. Brake dust, road grime, and other residues can damage your tires if not cleaned off before storage. Use soap, a tire brush, and water to scrub your tires thoroughly. Opt for an approved wheel cleaner and steer clear of tire gloss or dressings. Ensure they are completely dry before moving to the next step.

Airtight is Right:

  • After cleaning, place your tires in large, dark, airtight plastic bags—garden bags or specialized tire storing bags are ideal. Expel as much air as possible and seal the bag with a zip tie or tape to prevent oil compounds from escaping.

Upright is Important:

  • Store your tires upright to avoid deformation; this is crucial if they’re still mounted on wheels. If unmounted, you can store them white to white and black to black to keep them pristine.

Store Your Tires Like a Pro:

  • Keep your tires in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of ozone, like electric motors and furnaces. Basements, climate-controlled garages, or workshops are ideal. Avoid places with extreme temperature fluctuations or moisture.
